Childers, english version to 19.07.07

Hi Guys,

sorry for taking so long to writing an english version for you!
We are lousy writers at the moment- to much to plan and to little time in the net...

After we did left Homehill we traveled down the cost over Airlie Beach, Mackay and Rockhampten down to Childers (near Bunderberg- yes, where the rum comes from) where we finally found a job!
The journey down here was not very interessting because it did rain, rain and- did I mention I did rain quite a lot?
But with our new job the rain stoped and since then (3 weeks ago) we are happy with a lot of sun- even if it is still quite cold here.
In Bundaberg we did go to the Informationcentre and they luckily did had the number of a Caravanpark in Childers where we could try to find work. One call and we did had work on a Tomatofarm- even if the Harvestoffice told us we would need to go back to Ayr if we wanted some work... We did have the possiblity to make Mandarins to but we wanted to start with Tomatoes.
The work was easy but badly paid. The women at our new home- the Childers Tourist Park- is as you might imagine in charge to find work for all the willing workers or Backpackers, so we ask her to get a new job- the Mandarins she did tell us about. But instead of starting the work- as promissed- on Monday we needed to wait til Friday...
After 1,5 weeks we finally stoped picking tomatoes and startet picking Mandarins. Soraya said there would be work for 3 weeks- wich would have been perfect- but in reality there was work for exactly 6 days :o(
Mandarinpicking is harder then Tomatoes but we did earn much more :o)
After the 6 days we asked about a new job and she told us to wait a few days. Because we wanted to stay at her Caravanpark- the people are very nice (see flickr for pics)- we paid for one more week. Nothing did show up in this week and we decided to rebook our flights in Brisbane and left for one night. We did come back to Childers because we had a promise for work for the next week.
We again did pay for a week- with the same result= no new job...
I think we are both quite trustfull otherwise we would have left earlier but so we did stay there two weeks without any change- and the people did ther ebit to keep us stuck there ;o)
So know, we have left the Park and are on the road again- to a new job hopefully. But it doesn't look that promissing- this year is the coldest winter anyone can rememeber with tempratures around 0- 2 degrees at night and 25 at days... Quite a difference, isn't it?

We will keep you up to date what is going to happen here in Australia,

Take Care,

Anna and Martin
